Cuisine: Meat

Category: Beef

Servings:

Ingredients:

crock pot
1 oven-sized turkey bag
bag of frozen, chopped onions
bag of red beans (or whatever beans you prefer, can use whatever combination you like)
bag of barley
flanken or any kind of swiss steak meat
red potatoes cut in about 1/8 inch slices or quartered
jar of marinara sauce
1/2 cup sugar
packet of onion soup mix
hot sauce
kishka

Instructions:

Fill crockpot with water, about 1/2 inch Line the pot with an oven-sized turkey bag Pour bag of frozen onions in bag for bottom layer. Cover onions with beans. Pour barley over beans making the third layer. Layer the meat over the barley (bones facing upward if using meat with bones). Flanken is the ideal meat but any swiss steak meat will suffice. Layer the potatoes so that they smother and completely cover the meat. Mix about 1/2 jar of marinara sauce with 1/2 cup sugar, packet of onion soup mix and some hot sauce. When mixed together, pour over the potatoes. Mix more marinara sauce with water, continuing to pour over the potatoes until the liquid comes up to about the top of the potato line. Layer the top with sliced pieces of kishka. Pat them down, pushing and compacting all the ingredients. Sprinkle some more hot sauce on top. Cover the pot and lift bag around edges to prevent spillage. Plug in and cook on low for about 20-22 hours. Serve and ENJOY!
